Welcome

The North Sydney Council of P&C Associations (NSC P&C) represents and connects public school P&Cs across a broad region—from North Sydney to Hornsby, and Ryde to Avalon. We are a fully volunteer organisation assisting P&Cs in our area and advocating for public education.

We encourage P&Cs or individual parents to get in touch with us on any public school issue. We acknowledge the homelands of all Aboriginal people and pay our respects to Aboriginal Elders past, present and emerging. We advocate for students and families, ensuring their voices are heard by the NSW Government and the Department of Education.

We work side-by-side with school communities, government, and key organisations to strengthen public education—locally and across the state. We also contribute to the wider conversation on education through media, helping shape understanding and outcomes for our schools.

At our core, we believe strong communities build strong schools. We keep our members informed, connected, and supported—so together, we can create the best possible environment for every student.

How We Contribute

1

Connecting Communities

Each school Term, we hold meetings at different locations in Northern Sydney.

Aside of networking opportunities for all P&C communities, Our speakers include direct information from the Department of Education regarding changes and initiatives. Local Members of Parliament are invited to update communities with their news.

2

Assisting P&C's

We are often asked to provide assistance by schools regarding a variety of questions around the governance of their P&C. This includes information regarding the appointment of office bearers, managing insurance risk, financial governance and the myriad of challenges P&Cs face each day. The below link will take you to our frequently asked questions, where we may be able to help you online.

3

Media

We often asked to provide media updates and information on a regular basis to newspapers, radio, and television. Please view here for our most recent communications.

Cammeraygal High School: Enrolment Update & Opportunities for Families

The Director of Educational Leadership, Luke Hubbert, recently attended Northbridge Public School to outline the opportunities for high school in public education. This is what he had to say:

Cammeraygal High School continues to enjoy a strong reputation within the community, and recent adjustments to enrolment policy have created some new opportunities for families.

The school currently operates with an enrolment cap of 920 students. With approximately 897 students enrolled at present, there is limited capacity available. This means that, in certain year groups, the school may be able to consider applications from families outside the immediate catchment area.

Enrolment availability can vary from year to year. At present, the Year 12 cohort is particularly large, while younger year groups are smaller. As a result, opportunities for enrolment may exist in some year levels but not others, both now and into the future.

Encouragingly, all students from the local Northbridge area who applied last year were accepted and enrolled.

For families with younger children—such as those currently in primary school—there is a strong opportunity to engage early. Parents are warmly encouraged to contact the school to arrange a tour. Both campuses welcome visits, giving families a chance to explore the learning environment and understand the student journey from junior through to senior years.

Cammeraygal High School works closely with neighbouring primary schools, including Northbridge Public School, to support smooth transitions. School leaders are available to meet with families and provide guidance.

If you are considering enrolment, it is recommended that you begin with the school’s pre-application process. With limited places available and numbers shifting each year, early engagement is key.

Parents who attended the Willoughby Girls High meeting received clear message from Executive Director Cathy Brennan....

There are some important system-wide shifts underway across public education.

A new anti-racism and inclusion framework is being introduced nationally, with pilot programs in NSW and Victoria supported by UNESCO. This goes beyond racism to include antisemitism and religious intolerance, with practical resources for schools to implement.

Alongside this, a new Student Code of Conduct will create consistent expectations across all public schools. It’s built on positive behaviour principles and sets a clear standard: treat others fairly, respect differences, and do not bully or exclude—whether in person or online. Students will be asked to actively agree to these expectations.

There is also a strong focus on “Inspiring Excellence” across the system. Schools will be more transparent about what quality learning looks like, how students are extended, and what opportunities are available across academic, sporting and creative pathways. Importantly, the system is aligning around a clear outcome for every student:

Leaving school with dignity, purpose and meaningful options for the future.

Key priorities remain:

  • Equity as the pathway to excellence

  • Continued focus on high potential students

  • Strong, explicit teaching

  • Growing emphasis on student voice and agency

In short: clearer standards, stronger inclusion, and higher expectations for every student.
